re-using primers

I have a mate who has sold one 223 and purchased another.
He has quite a bit of sized, chambered fire formed brass that has also been primed for the sold rifle.
The prepped brass won't chamber into the new rifle so he has to re-size the brass back to standard factory again.
He asked me if I thought he could re-use the popped primers again once the case's are re-sized.
I have done a bit of reloading but never had to do this so hence the question .
Do the primers distort or damage when removed and are you able to put them back into the primer pockets without the risk of misfires or other problems .

Deprive carefully and they are perfectly useable, it's been discussed here numerous times in the past.
However if he is resizing the cases just raise the decapper resizing button so it cant reach the primer it will save a lot of time and effort

Yes, primers can be removed with care and reused.

You're responsible for your own safety if you undertake this.

For a few cents a primer I wouldn’t bother trying to reuse them. I expect the compound will be cracked (since they are pushed out with a pin so all the force concentrated in one spot), which the manuals say is a bad thing.

Can he resize without depriming?

As above just take the pin out of the die so they don't come out

Remove deprive pin or at 10cents each just bin them and replace with new ones.

You can reuse primers. Remove anvil, anneal cup (don't anneal anvil), straighten out firing pin dent with a flat head punch. Use the filling from little red toy gun caps, content of a couple into one primer, mixed to clayey with a tiny bit of water and spread evenly in the bottom of the cup, once dry insert a paper disc from the toy gun caps, carefully reinsert the anvil. You now have a non-toxic lead-free primer, which some call corrosive primers. Glass is always half full for some.

Oh, you mean reuse, as in pop out unfired and insert in another case. I get it now. (-:

Same as above, I reuse them and have never had any issues. what I do is keep them separate and when I want some target shooting loads use them. Haven't had a miss fire yet but don't want to take chances with hunting loads so only use for targets.
