Just a question here , would it be possible for the ammunition manufactures to stop teasing me with new shit . I can only hide show much from the cook . having said that , does anybody use Nathan Fosters 7mm practical and could comment about it and compare it to the 7mm prc ?

It wont have factory ammo obviously but very easily made with quality brass options itll put around 200fps on the prc
Youll also need a decent mag box to run the practical with long slippery 7mm pills its a belted case which some people get bent out of shape about

300WM necked down to 7mm if I recall correctly. Will push big 7mm pills fast but also burn a lot of powder. Other big 7’s such as Nosler28 & 7RUM & 7/375 are similar and as @Kelton says likely +200fps on the PRC. The 7PRC is not trying to be the fastest 7mm magnum on the mkt, it seems to be aiming to fill a niche between 7SAUM & 7RM.

Just do it. The prc’s are built to be accurate. Sure there are plenty of older magnums out there, but why not one that is built to take advantage of 100 years of development and refinements? For a start, the case was designed to hold just enough powder to push a heavy for caliber 7mm which is about as ballistically efficient as you can get with still light recoil as far as magnums go, at 3000 fps. I get why people are anti the marketing and the new cartrages are just a way to “get your money” but really, it’s a modern magnum, making use of everything learned from cartridges, powders and projectiles that are close to a century old. That said, I know very little about the 7 practical… my vote for the prc, don’t regret mine in any way shape or form

ok , thats all good info thanks fellas . might be eaiser to simply build a 7mm prc i think . i understand the success of the 7mm prc is the very tight sami tolerances like 0.001 thou, bolt head / chamber . do we have the skills to get that tight locally ?

I'd still choose the the 7mm blaser mag if a 26 inch barrel was on the cards.
Otherwise the 7mm saum is way more efficient for the amount of powder used.

Got a donor action/rifle? Send it my way mate. I've build several 7PRCs since its release and they are all shooters. IV got some Kriegers and a Criterion in stock, can get Hardy and or Truflite too.

Having to always load ammunition can become a bugbear after a while, especially if you have other commitments and cant get / find time to do it before a hunt.
