    Reloader 25

Any one using reloader 25? How do you find it for temperature sensitivity? Doesn’t sound great from what I’ve found online especially on the hotter days.
I normally use reloader 26 in my Saum but only have a pound left.
Currently trying rl23 but can’t get the speed I’m after.
    Thanks

RL26 is a different beast to RL25 in terms of velocity potential, it’s not “bad” but expect to loose 50-70 fps in my experience. The temp sensitivity risk is overstated I believe given NZ conditions. Do your load dev at 15-20 C then you’re very unlikely to strike issues. Not unless you intend to go hunting when it’s 30C or hotter.
I can understand in US conditions where summer vs winter temps can vary hugely, like -20 to +40 C L, that there could be risks with temp impact on load behaviour

    Thanks Chainsaw
Currently about 80fps down using Rl23 vs Rl26
Just chasing numbers….. as you do.

What are your numbers? 2225 and 2217 would be a better alternative even Superformance if you want speed but it’s very temp sensitive a 7mm launching anything above 160gns at 2700+ is plenty I personally wouldn’t use RL25 but I’m not a speed addict anymore

Further more 80fps is nothing really 2225 only ran 60fps slower in my saum with 180gn deadly accurate just ran out of room pushing the projectile so deep

    Currently at 2770fps 20inch barrel with Rl23 and 168vld vs 2850fps with a subdued load of 62.4 Rl26 168vld

You’ll smoke that with 2217 and probably 2209 to be honest 20” barrel and 66gn 2225 got 2840 with 180eldm currently shooting them at with 62gns of 26 for 2930 but a change of primer as well when I was using the same primers it was 2840 and 2900 the vld is 2950-2975 63.6 grains I’d certainly give the adi powders a go

Stable at nz temps. I find R22 is the most sensitive of the RL powders I’ve used and it’s only at temps above 35 you see the effect. Pressure and velocity spikes.

    What cartridge?

The new generation of ball powders from Ramshot or St.Marks (Superformance and StaBall lines) are very good and under-rated. Hornady and even Berger use them in factory ammo.

Meters to 0.05 grain accuracy out of a regular powder measure...
