    Reloading 22mag

Does anyone load 22mag? Or know of a source to get the gear?

It's a rimfire round, so the case can't be reprimed.

    I doubt it's a starter.

there was a rimfire reloading system ages ago, it spun the cartridge to insert new priming compound. problem is that if the pin hit the previous indentation there was no ignition. waste of time and $$

have the kit to do .22lr, pills could be hard to sort for .22mag though.

its a fun project but obviously not worth it from a practical point of veiw

How much choice are you looking for? I've always thought there was plenty of options. Are you thinking of running very heavy bullets? 50, 55 grain?

if you think there isn't anything to pick from try back in the 80's. Seemed to be stirling and Winchester-maybe CCI. That was about it. Obviously more made just not much around. heaps more now than then

Winchester was the worst in my rifle. S&B was the best but they no longer make it.
Hornady Vmax is what I basically feed it now, as its so cheap with the volume I'm shooting (200rnd bulk packs), still very accurate though.
Lots of other flavours available though. Just go find a good retailer that stocks them.

Good selection of bullet weights and brands in GC Hamilton yesterday, most might be available in bulk lots though, so not ideal for trying them out to see what works. One lot caught my eye but was $29 more than I have the rifle for sale at!

Looks like I have to eat my words.

Didn't think that rimfire stuff could be reprimed.

From what I read the ammo for the 22 mag has never been so good, it's bringing the old round back to life and gaining a new following.

By far the best thing about rim fires is you dont flounder around picking up brass and reloading it. It would be like going out for dinner but still doing the dishes.
