Trying to full length resize some Hornady cases but the shoulder keeps getting a wee dint in it what could be causing this using spray on case lube die seems allg only happens on some cases. Photo below for example

From what I understand a hyro-lock would jam the case in the die.

I don’t think the shoulder and neck need to be lubed, so you could try wiping them down prior to sizing.

The shoulder doesn't need much if at all but the neck certainly does. As for the dents, it's from an air lock and some dies have a micro vent to prevent this, others don't. If unvented, go slow and don't over-lube.

+1, just load them & that dent will pop out when fired.

Just remember to put a bit of lube inside the case mouth / neck. Dip case necks in graphite or use your other lube on a earbud.

drop your dies in some petrol for 10 minutes and put cotton bud inside to clean out rest of gunk...or spray crc etc inside to clean out built up lube...when applying lube...case body ONLY.... wee jar lid with powdered graphite and shot to dip necks in and you wont see the issue again...its not a huge deal for hunting loads but not ideal and something you want to avoid in future.

your graphite and shot for dipping necks is the best reloading tip I've heard in over a year. I will set up my own this weekend! Awesome, thanks!

Lead shot or steel shot? This sounds like a brilliant idea

So I went and got some powdered graphite from Bunnings, a massive $7 purchase and emptied the lead shot from 5 Eley trap loads ( been in the safe for about a year doing nothing) into a small jar, mix them up and hey presto, I've got some dry neck lube for a fraction of the cost of the stuff you buy from the shop.

I've been using steel without issue for about a year, just need to be sure none stays in the case but that's not hard, I also put a bit of scotch bright in the bottom of my canister dunno if it helps hold the graphite or not but it doesn't hurt. I just give it a bit of a shake before using it.

well I had some 7.5 steel that were useless so used them......have contemplated changing to lead but its still working so cant see need to change.
