Thread: Reloading for Hammer monolithic pills

Got some 7mm Hammers 119gn recently for my 708 bushpig. Will be running 2208 powder. Any tips for starting loads ? I guess I should not treat these the same as traditional 120gn SP pills. They are much more like a conventional 150gn pill in length and hence a larger bearing surface? Although the annular grooves would reduce this ? I’ve had a quick look on the Hammer website for load info which does provide guidance for start reloads but no indication for max loads. To get the performance out of monolithics they need to be driven fast.
Can I run ladder going up in 0.5 increments like you do with cup n core lead pills ? Any other tips or advice appreciated

I have never been concerned about seating depth. Just mag fit.
Yeah 1 shot lader has always worked. Sounds mad but I would do 1 grain increments. Start lower.
Provided your seating depth and powder suits then you will find that your laser test will probably shoot a really good group until you decide that that is plenty of velocity or you get a flier. That's the time to stop as they don't find preasure as normally expected with the brass
