    reloading lead pills

ive got some 40gr 224 lead projectiles and 2206h and lil gun powder. wondering what rifle to load them for but havnt been able to find any data for lead. ive got a 223 and a 22 hornet was thinking they might be a waste in a 223 as ill only be able to push them to hornet velocitys anyway. Any one got some ideas

Screams sub-sonic 223 load to me with about 4-5gr of Trailboss.

Would there be any advantage over using 22lr subs

I use 13 grains of Lill Gun in the hornet with a 40 grain cup n Corr for about 3000 fps. Gives the Hornet a whole new attitude. 12-13 grains is a fairly widely used load. May need to reduce if lead pills are a bit soft. Very accurate too.

I use 12 gn's of Lil Gun in my hornet with 40gn projectiles, works great. As above, 11-13 gn's of Lil Gun is the go to Hornet load, may be a bit compressed in some cases, but it just seems to work.

With lead or alloy cast bullets your max speed will be around 1500 fps unless gas checked and then you might get up to 1800 before you lead up badly.
I've never shot so small a cast bullet but do shoot a bit of larger stuff and either subsonic or around 13 to 1500 fps seems to be a happy place.
I think you will also need a faster powder than 2206h and possibly Lil gun, as here is little resistance with a cast bullet and you don't develop enough pressure to completly burn them length junk in the bore. Ap 70 or unique, or trailboss might be a better option.
I'm sure rob, shooter nz will chip in he knows most things cast backwards.

That's what I use it for, works great.
