    Reloading for older shotguns

Have 2 old late 1800-early 1900 side by side 12 gauges
Both are Damascus or twist steel actually one of each
The Damascus one is English and it is nitro proofed it has the old 2-1/2 inch chambers but I make my own shells for it and it goes great with black powder I have also put a couple of boxes of falcon cowboy 2.5 inch roll crimped smokeless loads (very mild) and goes well with them aswell

The other I got last weekend is a Belgium proofed twist steel one also in fantastic condition it is not nitro(smokeless proofed) i haven’t shot it yet
But im thinking it might be ok with a very mild handload to Mimic black powder just to save some cleaning
    It has 2-3/4 chambers

Does anyone have any experience loading moden powders in Damascus shotguns that are black powder proofed?
I should I just stick to black powder
