    Reloder 22

Anyone else using Re 22 with 143 Gr Eld X in a 6.5
Been loading up a few missiles using 51 to 52 gr Re 22 but surprised at the lack of speed. 52 Gr is around 2740, when all the reading will tell you this is a near max load and should be up around 2900
Next step is to load up some 53-54 gr loads and see what happens with both pressure and speed
If all else fails I'll look to 2209 maybe

6.506 ? Continue to work up carefullly watching for pressure signs, I guess you should be able to get 2850 w RL22. If not then I’d recommend going with a slower powder like 2217 or even better RL25 or 26. I’ve got a couple of cans of RL25 and had been running 2217 in my 6506ai with 140gn AMAXs. RL25 definitely gives me more speed 2930 w RP brass or 2980 with Norma. This is about 100 fps better than 2217 but probably could have pushed the 2217 harder than I did. The load with RP brass gives sub 0.5 moa grps and very tight SD so go with that. RL25 loads are around 57 - 58 gn or bit higher. 59.5 in Norma brass was starting to show pressure signs.

Here's what Quickload says - interpret with care:

    Cartridge : 6.5-06 A-Square
    Bullet : .264, 143, Hornady ELD-X 2635 G7
    Useable Case Capaci: 60.353 grain H2O = 3.919 cm³
    Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm
    Barrel Length : 22.0 inch = 558.8 mm
    Powder : Alliant Reloder-22

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.

    Thanks
On balance it seems unlikely that Re 22 will ever achieve 2900 - 3000 safely. Best I can do is 2740 which is slightly better than quickload, so seems another powder is inevitable

Im using 2209 in a 260 rem with the 143 eldx 22 inch barrel. 44.0 grains of powder achieving 2805fps. But its a bit hot and needs reducing but sd is so low i cant be bothered changing it.

Got some 2209 for my mates 6.5 x 55 so will try that as a last resort. Seems to work well in the 30.06, and the 6.5 06 is an identical case so all is not lost
Mines a 22 inch as well with another 3 inches on the suppressor but will try chainsaws recipe and get hold of some Re 25

Let me know how long your barrel is, over-all cartridge length and I'll run some more Q/L data for you . . . If you want it really accurate give me the case capacity in H20

I have used RE22 in .25-06, .30-06 and .300 Win Mag, but moved away from it due to severe temp sensitivity. Plenty of better options out there.

yeah mines the same suppressed to so yeah the 2209 is a mint powder had no issues getting low s.d ect. never tried the reloader powders due to price and availability. The burn rate on the 2209 is very versatile.

I used RL22 in my Forbes.260 but it's not temp stable I now use RL 26 or Hodgdon superprofrmance both will give you the speed although RL26 will give you less pressure.
They both work awesome in all .260 I load for.
