Hi guys, what loads have worked for you for a ruger predator223? It has a 1:8 twist. I have some ar2208.
I thought the twist rate would be ok for 55gr bullets.

Twist rate us good for 55gr or you could go heavier and try a 62gr, my old ranch used to like the hornady 62gr SP. Will look up my load when I get home. What are you intending on using it for animal wise?
A case full of 2208 (about 24.5 to 25.0 grains) behind a Sierra 65 Gn will be about as good as you'll get with 2208 (its a bit slow for 223 unless using very heavy projectiles). It'll be kinda slow (about 2650-2700) but will be a very effective killer out to 250M and these "full case loads" of 2208 usually shoot well. As always work up from 10% less.
I thought maybe because the predator has the 22" barrel the 2208 might work ok.
I was hoping to use it as my shoot everything round (not including big reds).
Should I look at getting some 2206h instead?
oops - I had my Ruger models mixed up, yes with a 22" barrel it will be pretty respectable, maybe 2900 fps, and that will do for most things you'd want to ping with a 223
Yes 2206H will get you into the 3200's with 55's a 22" barrel . . . .
25gr of 2208 behind a 62gr hornady SP was my load, worked well in my ranch and tikka.
2206 and 24-25 grns behind a 50-55 grn projectile is one of the favourite go to loads for one hell of a lot of people....maybe because it just works.
