    Rust on dies

Hi all. My reloading area is far from ideal but it is what it is, temperature and humidity are basically the same as outside. My dies have got a bit of surface rust, by the looks just where I've had my hands. I had coated them in case lube hoping that this would be enough to prevent this happening. What's the best way to remove the current rust without ruining them and prevent it in the future?

    Cheers

If surface only, buff it off and spray with Inox.

I am an Eezox convert. I use it on rifles and other rust prone items. Its a synthetic product rather than petroleum based so does not evaporate. I am sold on it. A few places have it including Wilhelm Arms and Optics. The only complaint I have is the stupid containers they use.

Clean off with scotch bright and CRC or similar.... if you plan to store them for a long time, dismantle the dies and spray a coat of Tectyl 506 (in spray can) available from most engineering supply shops.

Wash of with CRC and rag when you wish to reuse.

Eezox. It has more than one use! Put it down your barrel too!

I saw a test someone did of 60 different gun oils and similar things to test for corrosion resistance. Ballistol was one of the best to use. And I have good results with that.

The other thing I started doing with case gauges and dies was to wrap them in VCI paper. That does the job for me.
