Remmodel7 just wait a tick and I will consult my 1968 mountain safety manual #2 and get back to you
just remember this is back before we got all flashasmichaeljackson with rangefinders etc etc..you used whatever ammo the shops sold so given that you can now look up BC etcetc and poke it into app to get correct figures..THIS however will put you in ball park
first off DONT ZERO at hundy...sure if your lucky your number 2 heavy bush load MIGHT BE on at hundy if not it be close enough.
right direct from deep dark recesses of time
.308 150grns 50yards=+1.5" 100yards=+3" 150yards=+3" dead on at 230yards hold dead on untill275yards hold 12'' over at 350yards
so yes you could be right with 20" BUT WITHOUT A RANGEFINDER not one guy in twenty will be able to tell you 350 from 400 out on the hill both are a long way.
remember that with modern super sleak projectiles and a hot load you will/should be able to be shooting flatter than this
if you wondering why 230-275 are both dead holds....cause it will be 4" low at 275 eg a dead deer from shoulder/chest shot working on 8" kill zone.
