    Shooter questions.

So just been playing with shooter. For atmosphere inputs i selected auto gps thingy but it put my altitude at -450meters and my temp at 2degrees.
As for barrometric pressure i have know fukin.clue but it sure makes a bg difference to my result at 800meters . Im guessing i need a weather station or is there a generic setting i can use for baro pressure that will put me close enough.

Hmm.. -450m and 2 deg would make it a cold hole.
You're not in Gore are you?

I just input mine manually every day before I need it, I double check it a different times of the day. I use my kestral and gps to confirm for all the info required. Far more accurate than a weather station when calibrated as it is real time.
It is not a real problem unless there are extreme changes in atmospherics below 550m. It is important when shooting anything beyond that.

Use 1013 hPa and take off 1 hPa for each 8 meters you are above the sea if you have nothing better.

I use 2 degrees per thousand ft and 1 hpa per 120 ft. They are the standard ISA lapse rates used in aviation.

    Shooter questions.

Just worked that out myself. Havent had to do density alt calcs for 15 yrs so a bit rusty.
How I passed my met exam is a wonder, I must have copied off a flap nerd. 120 was used for something when working out DA's I am sure of that

    Shooter questions.

I use a suunto baro watch that gives me absolute and relative pressure where i am standing, and temp.

Iphone bulletflight app gives me everything else needed.

Do you find that the Suunto gives accurate temp readings or is the instrument house heated by the arm?

Hmm that's a good point.I've got a temperature gauge on my g shock.but you have to take it off arm for 20 minutes for it to settle. Which is far from ideal.
