Short cases

If, trim to length cases are meant to be 2.155 inches, but by some initial measuring oversite, caused no doubt by the current Labour government, some cases have ended up at 2.150 after trimming and these cases are being used in a load to shoot 500 meters or maybe a bit more, will the .005" make a difference to the accuracy compared to the cases that were trimmed accurately after the oversite was noticed , thinking perhaps neck tension might make a difference??

I don't really want to bin them as the load with these cases work well in my rifle and the cases are like hens teeth to find outside of buying factory ammo and pulling or using once fired, or,

Should I just load and go .

What is the cartridge ?
I doubt there would be much difference from 5 tho of lenght.

Shoot a group at range with each and see if there is any elevation difference or depending how bad your ocd is just trim the others down to the shorter lenght.

only did 5 before another measurement check, guess they will grow, i might full length size them as currently neck sizing all others, thats bound to add a bit of length.

Well if you have a caliber length of neck contacting the bullet then 5 tho is only 1.89% variance.

I'll disperse them through the box of 50 at random then if there is a difference I'll have forgotten which ones they were anyway and just put it down to crap shooting.

I don't think that amount will matter, they will stretch pretty quick.

for every 10 grains of powder add one tenth of a grain of viagra, that will stretch them out

back when I first got reloading gear,I found the LEE case trimmer....hmmmm how does this thingy work??? put rod onto cutter head and slipped it into case and started spinning it...nobody told me about the base bit....yip cases with short necks still work ok.

If you are worried about a 5 thou difference in case length please do not under any circumstances measure any fired cases, ever, probably best to put your verniers away :)

Years ago there was an article in Handloader that tested the effect of shorter cases in the 22-250. They went way past .005 inches. How much difference? Bugger all if that. Rest easy.

Too late, they are "Randomly Packed".
I just wondered if there was a "Minimum trim to length" in the manuals for a reason, [guess there is] and if 5 thou below would actually make a difference.
