Thread: Spent rimfire casing uses?

Has anyone come across a use for spent .22 casings? Have a lot of brass after some pest control and target shooting at home, seems a waste to throw it out

Some guys use them to make projectile jackets

They can be useful as a hole punch (just add a hammer) for making extra holes in a leather belt after Christmas.

drill a small hole through base, piece of nylon , string them together and they will make a lovely neck lace . Perfect hand made gift for the wife or girl friend for Valentine's day.

They can be used to make 224, 6mm and maybe 25cal bullets.

You could buy kits at one stage that allowed you to reprime them. Ideal for those looking for a challenge

Fishing lures?

Decorative brass rivet?

Repurpose as (crappy) rivets.

Reloading them IS an option.

Scrap metal.

I remember one use for them as a little fella many moons ago..

We'd take the empty 22 case, cut off the heads of matches and stuff the case with them, then bend over end of case with pliers. Then put 'filled' case on the concrete, and smack it hard with a hammer. Boom!! Certainly worked with matches back then - farm boys thought it was a great joke.

Me and a mate are making 224 and 6mm bullets out of them. I'll be happy to grab them off of you?

Im shooting at the TLRS regularly and would be able to pick up.

we used to do the same as kids , but had to stop (ohhh muuum ?!!?) after a few to many shrapnel injuries (only small cuts, no lost limbs that I can remember)

Did you also make 'bolt bombs' with 2 bolts screwed together with a nut and the nut first primed with match heads before screwing the 2nd bolt in?
Big bolts were best!
Throw the whole thing up in the air and run (or duck).
If it all landed just right there was a very nice 'boom' and bolts and nut separated to fly their own path (and not take out your playmates).
