    It's to do with avoiding lead fouling.

    Some also shake up boolits with some epoxy thinned a bit with acetone and it seems to do the same trick as powder coating.

    "The" test is to hit the coated boolit with a hammer, if the coating survives the squash without detaching then you're good to go.

    Suppose you could add graphite to the epoxy if you are really keen.
