What are some of the tricks to getting a stuck bolt open for a Remington 788?
I think I have found its limit.

carefull the bolt handle doesnt break of if you do that to many times
What cal? Nephew has just picked up a budget model 770 in 308 he wants me to reload for.
If its a 788 it was known that the bolt handle was separate to the bolt and was welded they were prone to breaking of in your type of situation you see them cheap on tm from time to time with a 2 piece bolt I've got one in 222 one of the most accurate rifles I own
My a old man has one.
Bought in the mid 70s.
It was the first centerfire I fired.
I had the bolt handle come off just cycling it when I was just starting out. They are only braised on.
Oldman re braised it and she has been sweet since.

Well @northdude and @R93 I will take your word for it. I can't see any line to identify where the change is but by the look of the design I can guess that it probably isn't all that strong.
I could hope that the sea air and sand has fused it up pretty tight (It's done a few trips to Stewart Island).
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
The end of the bolt even has a thread on it to line up with the thread on the firing pin housing inside the bolt.
My old man's one has potatoes growing in all the pits but still shoots an inch with good reloads.😆
