    Sub-sonic .223

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone here has done some subs in .223? If so how did they go? Does anyone have any for sale?

    Cheers

heaps of threads on this......BASICALLY you are creating a .22lr subsonic and preformance will be ABOUT the same...you want the softest projectile you can find and even then wont get buggerall expansion...if your shot isnt spot on you will have pissed off wounded animal.

The difference is you can run 70gn or 80gn cast bullets yes they are doing the same speed as a 22 and ballistically pretty close but you should have close to double the impact Energy as its a heavy bullet
Still wouldn’t be keen to use on big game though

2x stuff all still = stuff all...... you have to put them into vitals and /or better still spine/brain or they wont do bugger all...think arrow with target point as that the wounding you can expect.

    Just use full power loads
Get a pistol cal lever action 44mag or 357 for subsonic hunting in my opinion

Iv got a .45acp carbine with a suppressor but it is not really quiet. hits pretty hard though....

Im still keen to have a play with an AR subsonic though. even if it is not practically useful for much!

its an interesting idea . . . something like a 75grn Amax sub would carry a looong way, i like it . . . trouble is a 300BLK upper would be way more useful on a AR

give it a go and let us know how you got on . . . R

Would sub sonic have enough energy to cycle the action in a Ar?

I would think your going to have to tune your gas system . . . But single shot would be ok to get started

It won’t cycle I doubt not enough gas
You could build an upper for subsonic but that’s a very expensive useless toy inless you actually have a Special use for subsonic 223 other than just coz
