I have in my posession a Rossi 44magnum with a 16" barrel which I intend to work up some subsonic 240gr loads using Trail Boss powder.
Has anyone else been down this road?
What was your accuracy like @100m?
Cheers

Yeah Ive only mucked around at the mo, I loaded up a few bombs using 240g Sierra's & 2205 which isn't the powder you want to use, but I just thought I'd have a play while doing some load development ( I did however discover that light loads of 2205 are very dirty ) & I did'nt have a crony so wasn't sure of the FPS
Here's the info I was given by someone using a Ruger 44 & running suds which grouped well ( aprox 1.5" @ 100 ) & killed well
8-8.5g of trail boss & 240g Sierra HP pistol pills![]()
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
Thanks guys
I have a supply of Hornady 240gr XTP and had settled on 8grs Trail Boss as my start load.
I'll post my results once I have put them over my chrony.
Cheers

Well Santa really came through for me and delivered on the the little Stainless Steel Rossi 92.
Ole P38 musta been a good boy after all aye!
I even got a chance to sneak out to the range on Christmas Day when everyone else was snoozing with a belly full of food after a huge christmas lunch .
I shot several 3 shot groups over the chrony as below.
Cal: 44 Rem Mag
Projectile: 240grs Hornady XTP
Powder: Trail Boss
Powder Weight: 7grs
Velocity 3 Shot Average: 890fps
Powder Weight: 8grs
Velocity 3 Shot Average: 960fps
Powder Weight: 9grs
Velocity 3 Shot Average: 1025fps
Seems 9grs of TB is the business with this Projectile/Rifle combo.
Next test ..... Accuracy.
Will keep you posted.
Cheers
