    Subsonic 223 loads

Does anyone have a subsonic load they could share for 52grain in .223 by any chance?

    Thanks in advance!

    Use trailboss powder
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time

search it....yes its been done.....yes it works...you will end up slightly better off than subsonic .22lr WITHOUT expansion....
couple of guys on here do it....if they dont come through with the load.....grab trail boss sample from gunworks (seen as you in shackecity) load same VOLUME of powder as normal..LEE spoons awesome for this and work down till you loose the craaaack when fire.

Awesome, thank you. Had very similar advice elsewhere also. It just puts another feather in the 223 cap.

You may want to consider pushing a heavier bullet to make it more useful than a 22LR

If going to that trouble why not cast lead tablets for it, at least you will get expansion. If however it's your intention to chop and change in the field, that might not work out as lube left behind from the cast bullets will upset a jacketed round.

If you're gonna go subsonic, then I have a suggestion for the projectile,:Horndays's 55gn SPSX.

It's devastating on rabbits at normal loadings, and I wonder if it would work at lower speeds.

The difference between this and normal projectiles is a thinner jacket meaning faster expansion.

I have not used Subsonic 223's at all, so this may not prove effective.

From memory I used 8.5g trail boss with 55g pills but expansion was non existent, could have loaded the bullets again after shooting, quiet tho and will kill small game.drop was 3in from full power load @50m .

Tried them, expand only on bone but not normal tissue or small critters.
Loading them backwards gives a better whack - be careful of pressure and / or stuck bullets when doing this!

    Results....
4.3gr of Trail boss with a 52grain projectile. Subsonic and nice and tight at 50m. I ran out of time to try 100m.
But trail boss certainly leaves a dirty barrel.
