I know a few people who have. Most are using cast bullets with or without gas checks. Most use trail boss as powder. It is cheap reloading and pretty straight forward. There were a few issues around tumbling bullets in one rifle but his load was "a bit hot" for the cast bullets and some of the hotter ones simply melted lead through the bore.....
Most of the issue around dropping velocity to 1000fps or slower is energy retention. To increase energy most use heavier projectiles such as 180gr or 200gr.
All the best.
I have done it with 174smk's and trailboss. Mainly as I had the bits. Never tried it on game. Easy load as are most trailboss loads-practically just filled the case up and slammed the pill on top. Wouldn't cycle my ak so never when further with it even though they grouped ok at 50m

Thanks guys it has a fast twist rate so runing heavier projectiles should be no worries trail boss seems to be the powder to use
Awesome a fast twist 7.62x39. Try and get some 180 grain .303 projectiles or 200 grain round nose cast work well.
151grn cast from Robert in Tokoroa are the go....... he has them on trademe for bugger all
I'm loading 7grns TB behind them with a magnum primer and believe I can go less and get them to be cat sneeze quiet.
they work fine on possums and hares I also head shoot my house muttons at about 40 yards with them no issues.
200gr cast projectiles from TM, no gas check, mild load of Trail Boss.
Only thing I did different was to drill the flash holes in the cases to a larger diameter and use magnum primers.
