    Subsonic 7mm loads

Is anyone having any success with these in terms of using a projectile that actually expands?

Hornady have the 30 cal sub x was wondering if there are any 7mm equivalents.

    Cheers

Mate of mine uses 7mm cast subs. I was going to venture down the track, started, but not going to bother now.

I have about 30 of shooternzs 130gr cast hollow points. I used them in my 7/08 and shot a couple of goats with them. They killed the goats but not DRT type kills.
I have no use for them anymore as I sold the 7/08, as you know.

I've had poor results with casts in 30 cal so was hoping for a dedicated sub expanding projectile...

Going to used in a 7x57

from what Ive seen and experienced....and I gave it a plurry good tootoo
UNLESS you are going to go all out and dial up/rangefind/load till cows come home to get super tight groups AND head/neck shoot
you will need lehigh super explody EXPENSIVE projectiles......the cast ones are great...its the subsonic bit that makes anything sucky
you poking a hole through animal...the really good expandy projectiles will make that hole slightly larger BUT STILL DONT DELIVER SHOCK.....and thats the big difference....
Roberts cast projectiles are about as good as it gets without spending huge $$$$ on lehigh.......
for finishing shots ,subsonic is awesome......lower speed but still supersonic,is still quieter than full power loads and the cast will shine at 1500fps....

The problem with the 7mm as a subsonic calibre is the twist rate it won't stabilise bullets longer than my 133 HP and the higher velocity is limited
by the twist rate to 1700fps it really is too small a calibre even .30 cal is marginal at subsonic much better at 1800-1900fps
If you want a serious cast bullet shooter start at .358 Winchester I have 220 HP and 235 FP cast bullets can go up to 2100fps
At 1050fps has more power than the 44/40 and easier to suppress.

I thought with subs size was key as you cannot rely on shock. Having seen 308 and 300blks struggle on game I would personally stick with 35-40cal if I wanted gun to shoot subs.
