Dose any one have any loads that they have trialed for a subsonic AR15 in 5.56 that will cycle repeatably in the 70g range??

probably possible man but id imagine alot of stuffing around with gassing and powders that most likely arent available in nz. thought about a 300 blk upper? and do the ends justify the means...?

I think you need 90 grain bullets to make it cycle

What is your set up? I have no experience with subs but would imagine a pistol gas set up would be the ticket.

At this stage Beavis its a standard VTR Carbine with a Nielsen on it.

Dave the justification to the ends if it works is only Because I can.

I have just been trolling the internets for loads as I'm keen as to give it a go. Be nice to be able to shoot that all day without pissing the neighbors off.

Looks like trailboss might be the go.

I would also think coming into a good size mob of goats close would be beneficial aswell, will follow with intrest.

    Hey mate,

I've been reloading subs for a wee while for my NEA15, nothing that cycle however.

Robbie Tiffen had a chat to me about options for this and his recommendation was a new bolt with the most of/all of the lugs taken off (obviously for subsonic rounds only)

I have been using trailboss with 80gr Hornady AMAX and with the Maximux on the end it's very quiet and fun to shoot.

Have run into some issues with the long 80gr as the taper from the shoulder is far back so to seat and crimp securely the COAL is longer than can feed from an AR mag so 2 in a mag is the only way to do it untill I sort that too.

Still searching for a solution to the cycling issue so if I sort something I'll post in here about it.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

You reakon a piston setup would cycle? Should require less gas.
