    Which Swaro scope?

I can’t decide which Swarovski scope to put on my new rifle build!

I want to stretch the legs on this 30 Nosler

Steel plates and animals to 1000y

    Swarovski z5 3.5-18x44 or

    Z5 5-25x52

    ???

Any first hand experience of the two?

Rifle is reasonably light to carry hunting so don’t want to much scope hanging off but want good magnification

    TIA

2nd the 3.5-18. Keep it versatile. Those 30 Noslers are awesome too. I built one off a rem700 and regret selling.

As BRADS has mentioned, the 3.5 -18 is a good option. I found it handy to have the 3.5 magnification for use where close range shooting is likely to occur while the 18 x is good enough for most of the longer range shots. If you were only shooting gongs at 1000 m then you'd be better off listening to anyone else but me... but for most of what we do in NZ that Z5 is a great scope. I use a Z6 now (2.5-15x) and the top-end loss of magnification (3) wasn't worth worrying about, but I still like using my mates Z5 3.5-18x44. Lovely scope.

The 5-25x would be great too but you would probably find the "5" too much for close in bush work, if that's where you go hunting some of the time.

How do you find it without zero stop, ever loose your way?

I’m still leaning towards the 5-25

I have other rifles for closer ranges and this will be carried to open tops for long range shots

It’s just that bit extra weight and bulk?

Think about the resale factor if you decide to change it at a later date....3.5-18 more appealing

Bulk and that a lot of the time you cant use all the magnification due to mirage, low light and you can get it to sit lower with a 44obj

For reasons mentioned above I would go 3.5-18 too. 18x is enough for out to 1km and it’s such a good versatile mag range.
