    T3/6.5/Amax

Is anybody using a T3 in 6.5x55 with 140gr Amax successfully.
I have a mate coming this arvo with his new rifle for me to load . Am looking to shortcut the whole development process.
    I have 140Amax, adi 2209, 2208, 2206H and Viht N560 with Lapua brass.
    Thanks.

    Andyanimal is IIRC

2209 and slower powderwise. 560 is around 09, maybe a smidge slower
2213 would be a good powder also

Yes a guy at work is using 2213 with 129gr sst's and he's getting good results, unforunately I only have what I've listed so guess I'll start around 46gr of 2209 and 49grs of 560 and see what happens.

N560 end of story, start at 49 or 50g.
If its guns, tits or tyres it's going to cost you lots of money

Yes. I max out at 51.
50.5 is nice. SST a smidge more accurate than AMax for same load and length.

    loaded 3 sets of 4 @ 49, 49.3 and 49.5 of N560, federal primers, lapua brass.
screwed the die down and the first one came out at 3.147" Oal so thought what the hell gotta start somewhere.
49gr group was just over an inch 49.3 put three in one enlarged hole and the forth cutting it. Fired the 49.5 mostly for effect.
Went back a week later with 2x 5 shots with the 49.3 load, it still shot well. not as well as his first group but put that to nerves or the first one a damn fluke, but they still went in an inch easily.
Scope was Vortex Viper PST 4x16x50
He was happy as a sandlark so settled on that and loaded his brass.

A bit pissed for me as I've been trying for weeks to get a load of N560 and Amax that will shoot that well out of my Sako but I can't.

Tried evey combo from 3.140 to 3.155" with 47 through to 50grn.
I'll get one good group then can't replicate it.
    speeds are inconsistant.
spent damn near 100 bullets trying
Gimp gave me those 130gr Brergers to try and wildman has given me some serrias, so will try them
    pity as I have some 400 amax's,
    used to have 500 .

An alternative is to try IMR4831. Worked great and very fine accuracy with Sierra 140 grn, but not quite the velocity of N560.
46-48 grns. My load is 47 when I use it.

Personally, I would try 50.5 grns N560 and 140 SST.

Thanks for your kind offer Tim but if I find something as big [gr size] that will shoot better I'll probably trade them off if possible.
The 120gr Nosler shoots 1/2 consistantly what the amax does so far.
looks like the 7mm mag trade is a no go so I'll just have to find a better longer range 6.5 load.
I know it shoot's and I sold my 280 because it shoot's and the 280 was sort of in the same ball park so something will work just a matter of saying , stuff it , giving up on the amax and trying other things.

When he says he can't replicate good groups with the Amax, he's still getting everything into less than 1moa with 5 shot groups
