    Testing for accuracy

So all those that talk about reloading for accuracy - how do you do this?

    Sand bags?
    Bipod?

How do you eliminate the shooter as a source?

    I'm looking at this:

    $189 from Reloaders in Auckland.

How many of you use such things?

I use a rear bag and a bipod, and as long as I'm disciplined, it works well

the purpose of testing is to test the ammunition, not the shooter - as you have said.

Without going to a full bench rest setup(perhaps not even then) , theres no real way to eliminate the shooter ....

$189 looks like a good deal though ..

Admittedly, I'm looking to cheat - I know my shooting changes day to day.
So, if I remove myself from the equation (as mentioned), I should be able to form a very quick and clear picture of the accuracy of the ammo I'm trying

$189 does seem like a worthy cause.

Eliminate the shooter? The relationship between rifle and shooter is completely unique. A rifle that shoots better in a vice is only good for that

go the bags - and get a REALLY good bipod like an Atlas or something

Using a simple plain-jane Harris (not a Remington or other cheap knock-off)

I'll grab a bag for the weekends shoot and see how I go

Bipod and rear bag, if you can't shoot well with that you are doing something seriously wrong.

I have the big lead sled but just use my short br bipod and back sandbags and generally for the serious accuracy work shoot of our bench rest that we built out of old 8' strainers thumped in and some old 6x2.
I would only use a led sled if I was shooting a hard recoiling rifle other wise a waste of money

I have personally never used a sled but agree with bipod and rear bag or front and rear bag setup.

It's extra practice and as well as doing load development you are also seeing where your going wrong as well shooting wise.
Also depending on your development technique it's not ALL about shooting pin hole groups.
