    Thank you.!

    Hi Lads and Lasses,

I would just like to thank everyone, for your help in producing my first load of reloads especially Barefoot for the loan of the dies.

In the end I went with 150gr Nosler Partition projectiles and Adi- Ar2206h powder.I got carried away and made 180 bombs. Am pretty happy with the load , acceptable groupings, and Im sure it will be enough to Knock over a deer as the only thing it has damaged so far is numerous pieces of A4 paper, courteous of the Taupo Range.

Just a couple of questions for you reloaders out there, how low can I go down with the projectile and still effectively drop a red deer. Is 110gr projectile too small?

Also has anyone used a brand called Sierra Projectiles from america and what are they like or are they cheap and nasty.

Sierra are good and are well used by hunters, you would be able to knock over a red with a 110gr projectile people use 85gr projectiles in .243 for reds so can not see why a 110 in .308 would not it is very capable of giving out 2600 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle.

The 130/125gr in 308 mostly are designed with small game in mind but are still very effective on reds moreso on fallow as long as your shot placement is good and the explosion happens in the engine room not the shoulder bone. Or of course neck shoot em.

The barnes 130 and 110 is the exception. The 130 will well out penetrate a normal 150gr. I have witnessed two red hinds with one shot with the 130 and we found it just under the skin on the fourth shoulder.

The downside to the lighter projectiles is the rapid drop in velocity with their poor BC.
