    Thoughts on 55's for 1:7 223

Gidday Guys - I'm doing some loading for a 1:7 twist 223 but my usual projectile of choice - Hornady bulk flat base SP 55's - shoot poorly in this rifle.

So what to try next -it has to be readily available and ideally not gold plated!

Thoughts - especially does the 1:7 matter or should I ignore that factor??

The Gamekings in all weights are excellent but have become hell of expensive. Too much so for me to use on pests and paper.

@Tentman Here's a rib cage hole after penetrating a shoulder in a Fallow at 230 yards with the 52 grn Targex. Punch well above their weight and are relatively as cheap as chips. NZ made and available too. They zoom along at 3250 fps from my 20" barrel. BM powder.

Gidday Guys - Hey thanks for the heads upon the Targex @Tahr , I will get some from Bryn with my next order.

It the meantime I've found it runs well with 60gn Vmax and the 65 gn SPBT Sierra's. And perversely, it also shoots a 40 gn Vmax load well too!! The rifle is the newly released CZ600 "Alpha" - I'll be doing a report on it shortly but like other have reported on the interweb, its a fussy little bastard, it needs the "exact" right combination of load, projectile and seating depth to get usefull results with - most loads it just sulks at about 2 MOA but with the "right"ones it'll plunk out 15-20mm groups consistently!

Gidday. No sorry I've only shot the 60 gn Vmax reloads. I do have a 1000 55gn Hornardies (a variation of them new to me) to try but haven't gotten round to it yet. Cheers

The twist rate is only a problem if the bullet isn't well concentrically balanced. Bit like a car wheel.

I'm shooting 50gr ballistic tips out of a 1:7 22-250ai at 4k and they group just as well as the heavies. 90 and 100gr bullets out of fast twist 6.5's and 7's too and they don't care.

Had the same problem with my tikka 1/8 twist with those same projectiles, changed to 60gn 62gn softpoints problem solved.

Light bullets with short bearing surfaces and a long jump to the rifling could be causing the problem
