    Thumlers Tumbler

Ive been given a thumpers tumbler, exactly like the one below

Thumler's Tumbler Heavy Duty Rotary Rock Tumbler | eBay

reason being the motor is set for US mains power, so was not being used, so I'm tinkering with a suitable motor to run it no luck yet if anyone has any clever solutions?

Also stainless steel media whats the going price? preferably near CHCH!

I have a shit load of brass to clean!!!

Don't panic, I can solve all your problems. I assume it's not a switching power supply cos if so you can just buy a plug adapter.

Assuming it's not go to jaycar and buy this (check the wattage but this is what mine took):
    250W 240 - 115V Isolated Stepdown Transformer | AC-AC Transformers | Power Conversion & Transformation | Power Products Electrical | PRODUCTS | MF1082 | Jaycar Electronics New Zealand

The price won't make you happy but it's cheaper than a new tumbler.

You don't have to wait for media. The cases will get clean (except the inside and primer pockets) if you just tumble them. Use hot water, a few drops of dishwash and some citric acid (supermarket).

For the media collect up $100 worth of stuff on cabelas and put in an order. Select ground shipping and it will cost you $125usd and they just send it air anyway. Arrives in a week.

I could use another packet of media if you want someone to share costs.

One of these is very handy, they also have a seperater tray thingie.

Just be aware that you may have problems running your 60Hz motor on 50Hz.
Having said that I run a big Dillon Tumbler at the wrong frequency and although the motor gets too hot to touch I have now used it for almost 15 years and it is still going. It runs that hot that it heats up the floor underneath it! Re tumbling speed - slower is better. The faster speeds start to cause peening to the cases.
I presume the Thumler motor has no cooling fan?

If you go with the transformer you might get away with a smaller one given it only draws .8 amps.

Not quite correct. If you read the theory the motor if fully loaded and running on reduced Hertz could potentially draw more than its max nameplate current. Best to go for a Tx with a safety margin of over capacity. Limiting factor though I guess is the Thumler doesn't have a huge drum and it may not be possible to overload it. I regularly run 200x 308 sized cases in mine (not a Thumler) and the drum with that load is quite heavy to lift.
