    Tikka 300WSM Mag length

I’ve started reloading for my Tikka 300 WSM, and the mag length is too short. How have other people dealt with this, apart from seating the pills shorter. I’m using 168TMKs at 2.975 OAL. Would a long Magnum magazine fit?

The WSM case starts to bind up in the long action mags unfortunately.

There are aftermarket magazines available which promise to fix the problem. I'll be importing some soon hopefully.

Seat to mag length and you will be good to go.

Just seat to mag length, they’ll be going plenty quick enough. Start at longest you can go in mag once you know your powder load and adjust length shorter by 5 thou increments till you hit sweet spot

I’ve always seated at about 2.855 OAL in my wsm, pills from 165s to 180s and shoot anywhere from same rough hole to 3/4” depending on projectile obviously. Just a little shorter than mag length as at max length the tips on eldx and eldm for example start to flatten off from rubbing in the mag I found.

With mine I ground the block out of the factory wsm mag and I sacrificed the guts out of a long action mag and it works great! Im using the 208gr eldms and they have heap of room and feed well! I have heard of people just getting a long action mag and taking to it with a heat gun and spreading it a part a bit it give it a bit more room

I've heard of people opening up the insides of a LA mag with a dremel a bit to and it has fed well. there's ways around it anyway

I saw a short clip the other day where someone got along mag and shaped a block of wood the size of the cartridge and took the mag apart then heated it with a heat gun and jammed the block of wood up the guts until cool The mag then takes the new shape.
I think this was for SAUM cases not sure if wsm will be too much of a step up to to this.

    Tikka 300wsm magazine modification.
I load my 300 wsm with 208 eldm at 2.985 OAL and there’s plenty of room to seat the projectile out longer.
