    Tikka 6.5 cm with 140g eld-m

Hey guys, I'm working on a load with 140g eldm for my t3x 6.5 creedmoor. Its a standard 22" barrel. What have people been finding for sweet spot velocity? I thought I had a load at about 2630fps but wasn't not much good when re checked. I'm using 2209 72mm col, cheers

Try Hodgdon superprofrmance or RL 26 you can get mid 2800 with the 143 ELDX that combo shoots well in the Creedmoor and .

What brass and primer are you using? With a little more info I can model the load in GRT (Gordon's Reloading Tool).

It might not be exactly right but it's helpful to get loads into the right ballpark.

Cheers steelisreal, hornady brass and CCI LR 200 primers. 41.5g 2209 had me around 2600 unsuppressed 2620-2630 with suppressor but on recheck average 1 moa. Been up to 43.5 and got 2726 without suppressor which id say is max or very close to.

    This may help:

Rifle - Tikka T3x 6.5CM, standard barrel length
    Hornady Brass
    CCI Magnum Primers
    43.5 grains RL16
    143gr ELD-X
    71.5mm COL
    Ave MV = 2770 fps
Note: Pressure signs at 43.7 grains. 43.3-43.5 produced a good accuracy and velocity SD node

That's a similar load I use in my T3x (well actually 43.6gr RE16 with 140gr ELD-M Lapua case, CC1 450 primer). Velocity is 2,800 fps through a Labradar. I've found that RE16 has 50-70fps better velocity for similar pressures to AR2209.

Most Tikka T3x 6.5 CM's have a long throat and magazine and what some call a slower barrel than most rifles. Consequently you'll most likely find that the recommended AR2209 (Hodgdon 4350) load can be safely exceeded. Your rifle may be different though. As always start low and work up.

Thanks 10-ring. I kicked off with a box of hornady match 140eldm loaded ammo, shot pretty well. Does 2650fps out of my barrel. I'll get to work on more load development.

I used to use the Belmont 760 in a CTR shot good out to 600 regularly with ELDM 140's and Lapua 139's

I found my t3x 6.5 creedmoor loves the rl16. It shoots ragged holes with a ES 6 and SD 3. Gotta love rl16

Hey @Zkmas - how are you getting on with load development?

I put the info you provided into GRT using the default case capacity. The results are close to what you achieved. Have you tried to measure H2O capacity of your fired but unsized cases?

You said the factory loads worked (grouped?) well - did you consider duplicating that overall length for your load workup?
