Tikka super light cut to 16 suppressed 308 ammo advise

Hi I am about to purchase the above and get cut down etc to use mainly in the bush will need it for some clearing skid sites etc so am thing out to 250/300 max for this rifle, a few years ago i used to shoot Federal Fusion out my old 708 and i really loved it. I am thinking of shooting 180grain out of this rifle once i get it as normaly stalking bush, and want to use packet ammo in this rifle what are peoples thoughts of Federal Power shok either 165 or 180 or Fusion 165 or 180g

Check out Belmont ammunition mate. Very good price and there was a post on here last year rating it very highly with statistics and all sorts.
I also use it and have found it to be very accurate and reliable.

I’d probably go the 165gn with the shorter barrel.

I use to reload 165s for the same. Got them moving at over 2500 which was heaps inside the ranges you are talking. Federal powershok are great( speer projectiles)

Speer 150 or 165 btsp were the best choices for the 300 Savage in Nathen Fosters opinion, your 308 with short barrel will equate to 300 Savage speeds.

PPU 180gr ammo does 2390fps in my suppressed 16.5 inch Bergara
The 150s do 2620fps, only 110fps less than in my 24 inch Brno

GO 165 or 150's in the short barrel and zero for 200. Job done. Any basic cup and core projectile will be sweet, buy a couple of packs and use the ones that shoot best in your gun. The old cheap corlokts have shot well in my various tikkas and kill shit plenty good

Went completely the other way with the bushpig. Tikka T3 16.5" and went to flat base 110 Hornady and 2206h pow pow for most hunting fast and light.... cranking speeds and smash the shite out of goats and Fallow. You'll need a good suppressor as these are LOUD... and a bit of flash.

Other wise we've been using the Outback 308 rounds which we nicknamed the cookie cutter as it just dropped the bigger animals on the slips. 308 WIN – 165gr Sierra SBT GameKing is used in those. as per above...from @superdiver if you wanted to try some factory before creating your own brew.

There's a couple to think about. Just ask @Happy how much he loves Stumpy - his Bushpig and the light ammo

    Cheers CD.

Haha @Happy - I love the semi-lightweight - fluted bolt and barrel from memory, Lightweight DPT and what you can't see is carbon fibre Southfort stock. - then a whacking great 56 objective Nightforce SHV on the top, rail and rings. heavy spring, stainless lug and ali replacement shroud to cap it off, so to speak..

Whacking on the weight where you want it eh - If I could like this x1000 it wouldn't be enough, such a cool set up to see in action. Then you throw 110's out of it - frickin awesome!

Second the Sierra Game King 165’s. They are the business. They work extremely well with the 1:11 twist rate of the tikka’s. Dropped a red yearling stag at 185m - he didn’t know what hit him. Outback Ammo run them, reasonably priced and very consistent.

I have a Tikka T3x superlight fluted cut to 16" with carbon stock etc, great bush gun but also very accurate at ranges. I was running the Hornady 150gr Superformace and it shot sub MOA any day. I tried some of the Belmont 150gr SP as was about 1/4 of the price, it shoots just as well and I'm getting about 2680FPS out of the 16" barrel and 3 shots under 1.5inches at 200 yards. I am going to order one of their 250 pack deals as this stuff shoots very well. Hope that helps

You can get the 165 Nosler Ballistic Tips in factory ammo too. Cant remember what flavour though.
