What model of rifle and barrel length

    Are you using a suppressor?

At what elevation ASL is your average shooting performed

A velocity reading from both rifles would be helpful also.

Can't get that to open Pengy .

Will find the velocity tonight ,mostly around 150m but want the data out to 500m 7mmsaum.

    ....
A suppressor has no relevance to trajectory, only barrel length in this context of guessing velocity

Within the context of speaking generally - a suppressor can have a jetting effect, which often raises velocity.

I have experienced it with two of gabe ziglianis suppressors

yep, the DPT models I have tested have given an av 30fps increase in velocities over the same gun with suppressor off.
do you just want to know the .270 is flatter shooting over a longer distance, or that the .308 hits harder at shorter ranges?

Plus I found the projectile design (and possibly powder speed) through the suppressor impacts on velocity.

Flat base projectiles tended to lose velocity compared to no suppressor when I was using the old Reflex cans.
Boat tails tended to gain a bit.

Haven't checked my DPT cans yet.

30 fps is often within the ES of many loads.
Its effect on trajectory under 600yds is insignificant unless you're shooting targets or small varmints.

I'd take some notice if the vel change was over 100fps

No I'm already up on that thanks ,thats why I have the 270 for more open longer range work & the 308 for bush hunting.

The T3 270 velocity is 3060 at muzzle ,both rifle barrels are 540mm
The Tikka 595 308 velocity is 2820 at muzzle

    - AND Taking that to its logical conclusion , a higher muzzle velocity means .... ???

    ... a flatter Trajectory ...
