Hey,
Going to do some rounds for the father in laws 223 its a Remington Sportsman 78, (apparently cheaper version of the 700). Does anyone know what the twist rate of it would be?
I had a look on the table from the Thread "Load Development for 243" but can't see it mentioned in there.
Just wondering what size projectiles to load.
It HATES Highlander 55gr ammo. It maybe the ammo rather than the projectile though.

I find flat base proj shoot better in most 223.
buy a few packs of factory stuff of different weights and find out what works best :P

maybe it would fit into the 1-12" bracket it seems that is where the other Rem's are....
Is this about average for 223's?? Im unsure as never been inclined to load for it till now, main game will be wallabies if I can ever get over the hill to them.
I had a factory Rem 700 Varmint in .223 and it was 1:13" twist. Ok as long as you shoot 55 grainers or lighter and, as Spanners already said, flat-base are good. I used the hornady 53 grain match bullets and they were very good. To fling heavier 22 cal pills, you need 1:7" to 1:9" twist.
