Well, I took a bit of a punt and bought an Ugly Annealer after speaking to the guys who make them. Ordered 10 days ago, and arrived on Thursday. Today I took it over to see a mate who does a huge amount of reloading and normally uses an AMP. After a little bit of fiddling around with setup we had it churning through the brass. 8 cases a minute seems to be its happy space, and it worked on everything from .222 through to 30-06 with 7.62x29, .243, 7mm08, .308 and 6.5x55 run through. Our gut feel is that it isn't as accurate as the AMP but a damn site faster - including the learning curve we annealed close to 1000 cases this afternoon. I did a bit of testing on the annealed brass and I'm very happy with the results - it was $400 well spent. I've got a few ideas for improvements and will give the manufacturer some feedback around that. Oh, my mate said that if we're going to call an AMP a 100% solution, the Ugly still gets an 85% rating.
