I think more crimp is unlikely to solve the issue, lead projectiles are slippery and slide easily in the bore compared to jacketed ones so develop less pressure. Lead is also far softer than copper and if heavily crimped could "let go" before the crimp is fully open. I have personally seen this with 38/55 cases after firing the case mouth was still slightly curved inwardo.
Drivermans excerpt is excellent and packed with usefully advice. Get some faster powder and forget the 2208.
