    Unusual old ammo

I was going through some old estate ammo today and found these, quite interesting.

There must be some really weird ammo floating around from days gone by.....

    kynoch 7mm

    7mm Kynoch Next to a blank 308

    6.5 Jap

6.5 jap next to blank 308

    45 AC

    8x57 JS

Hard case looking things, anyone else found/seen any old ammo about the place ?

I found an old .270 case the other day. They have been obsolete for years.

I've got some Kynoch 7x57 ammo too, the big old 173gr round nose, came with BSA Hunter I bought years ago and kept it out of interest. Also got given a jar full of different ammo too, in it was 7x61 Sharpe & Hart, 32 auto, 30 carbine and some old Norma 222

The Imperial has a very early plastic tip and the Kynoch a metal tip the other odd ball Kynoch a really long bullet similar to early 6.5x55 ammo

The 6.5 Jap Norma Re would date from the late 60s early 70s maybe a tad later.

    Starting from left to right.

    Good eye @muzza

    4 out of 6

45-70govt is incorrect and you missed the one immediately to the right of the 308.

I'm not counting the 308, that's just there for reference

When people are doing their compulsory 30 shots for their anual hunting permit over here, they turn up with all shorts of ammo. The oldest batch I have seen is one bloke shooting off 6.5X55 ammo from 1919.All of it went off too.

Each year a few people fire 308W in a 3006.Being confused as its 7.62.

In a mauser action it goes well, the case walls blow straight and the bullet even hits the target. It didn't go so well for a guy using a Tikka T3 though.Gas vented back down the action, the plastic bolt stop melted burning his face.
