Thread: Velocity Help

Hi chaps.

Just wondering if anyone else has run / knows what velocity you’re getting with Federal Blue Box 150grain or Hornady Whitetail in 308 out of an 18 inch barrel? Has a DPT on it also.

Long shot but thought it’d be worth a try before trying to source a crony

Running a factory (cant be bothered getting it out and finding a tape!) Length t3 308 threaded with dpt, hornady whitetail 150s doing 2850 ft/sec. Every rifle is different though so pays to validate at a few distances

Thanks mate, yea I know it’ll need some work on the range, just looking for a drop chart to start with then fine tune it

I had a Ruger Compact 308 16 inch barrel, Federal blue box 150gn did 2550fps from memory.

Download strelock which is a free app and plug in the required info then take a screenshot, might not be 100% but its a good place to start

Not 308 but chronographed my 7mm08 with 16inch barrel and 139 Hornady Whitetail recently and it was only doing 2430fps. I would guess you will be around 2600 with your 18inch 308.
