Starrett 799-6/150Mm Electronic Caliper | MyTools
This is the site I used but it's $160 plus p/h. What put me off those expensive jap ones was the extreme likely hood that you'd end up with chinese rip offs really easy. So many of those floating around
:pacman: Starrett has a factory in China. My genuine Starrett DTI and magnetic base are both of Chinese origin......
This from 2004. Who knows how far they have progressed with Chinese sourcing since then.

Makes me laugh because the Yanks pump up Starrett over Mitutoyo because Mitutoyo isn't USA made. In actual fact all the Imperial Mit DTIs are now made in the US of A.
I don't mind paying for that when it's known (and the reviews are still good). The mitoyotoya ripoffs are dodgy and you're paying $250 plus of eBay with no guarantee. I figured the starretts wouldn't be too hard to return but they've been great.
Manual ones with a dial in metric or inch bugger the crappy, battery ones, get left on. FLAT.... Some don't like working around fluro lamps too.
Check these NZ available ones out....

"Remove the battery" What an Outlandish proposal..........!!!
The set in this photo cost $248 close on 30 years ago

Mitutoyo. Go 200mm so you have extra hand grip when using a comparator. Mine are awesome. No battery issues
Now that's fighting talk Outlander.
My son had a .358 Win for a while and found it perfectly adequate for rabbits plus the occasional larger animal. It's place has now been taken by a .350 Remington Magnum which has been adequate for everything it has been tried on to date.
Regards Grandpamac.
I have a set of Mitutoyo manual verniers your welcome to have, just come and pick them up,
