This is a refreshing perspective thanks @gimp. Big fan of understanding the practical implications of the "optional" steps and whether they will make much real life difference. I had never bothered to measure shoulder bump in the past but it's a relatively easy one to control (as long as I'm doing it right, as it turns out). Annealing, on the other hand, is not quite as accessible and, as you say, may not be worth the time/effort in this case.
