Pretty much any 158 grain jacketed soft or hollow points should work.

Use up your Lil gun, 16-18 grains or so, then buy Belmont Magnum Pistol powder from Reloaders Supplies. It's the same powder as Win296/H110 and is far cheaper ($49 - 500 grams) than anything else.

I use Hornady 180 gr xtp and Lil gun 16 gr for 1650 fps in my Rossi 16".

I read Lil gun was blamed for top strap errosion in some revolvers not a problem in rifles.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

I have shot a few deer using a 158 gr soft nose. Excellent. You won't melt the barrel

Get a hold of @shooternz at the speeds you'll be achieving lead gas checked projectiles will work great.

He'll have some very good quality gas checked cast lead projectiles that will be perfect for your rifle and perfect for the game animals you mentioned.

I have the Rossi 92 16" stainless steel in 44 mag and out to 100m or so it's devastating.

I have also been running Shooternz's cast gas checked 70gr lead projectiles in my Winchester 92 in 25-20wcf.
7grs of W296 gets these projectiles humming along at about 1700fps.

I've shot numerous goats with this load and it works real good.

Systolic is also correct the Belmont magnum pistol powder is just repackaged W296, which is also Hodgen H110, but much cheaper and easier to find, in my neck of the woods at least.

    Cheers
    Pete

Thanks for the Promo Pete, but I non't have any 358" gas check moulds only plain base a 135 HP 166 TC and Elmer Keith's 170 SWC they can be pushed to 1400fps
the Keith at 1400fps will easily take down a deer it's still one of the top cast bullets for hunting with a .357 mag pistol the US, Google Lyman358429 plenty of load data
for it, I was shooting Handgun Metallic Silhouette yesterday with it in my .38 Special no problem hitting the pigs at 50 metres with it, thats as far as I can see to shoot
    with iron sights.

I always used and still do . 125gr jacketed hollow points sitting on 21gr of win296. My wee Rossi lever gun loves them, not for pistols though. It has never liked cast bullets, chucks them like an old lady flinging poo.....
