I have a hot salt bath annealing set up, can't justify an Amp annealer.....I get it up to 530 Celsius then have a metronome set up for 5 second intervals to keep my case heating time as consistent as possible, drop cases into a pot of cold water after heating. It's not perfect but definitely better than not annealing.

22-204 & some 80gr ELDM loaded for a week away on goats. Give them a go & see what all the hype is about. There's a deer or two about & some pigs too. @Hunter_Nick I'm still taking my beloved 6x45 with me also, will have time to compare side by side.

Nice nice! What speed have you got the 80s skidding along at? My pick is you’ll see bugger all difference between zero and 250yds. The 22-204 will start stepping away after that, better in the wind too

trying to find the motivation right now to load another 50 for my 22-204 i thought the 50 a couple months ago would see my year out rifles obviously to fun to use because im down to about three what loaded length did you settle on.

Yeah like you say, beyond 250m it'll shine. 2945fps is what I settled on. Will go more but at the expense of primer pockets eventually.

    My 6x45 ( 6mm - 223 ) is actually my favourite Rifle I’ve ever owned.
I’m interested in knowing what your Load / Projectile / Powder combo is and what you use it for

    I’m throwing a Sierra 85 gr hpbt at 2865 fps with H2206 .
Haven’t shot many Critters with it yet , but all that have touched had not moved far .
It just just shoots “Dots “ without any load development, truth is I could probably improve on it’s already impressive accuracy but why bother .
It amazes me that it , or a version of it wasn’t/ hasn’t been adopted by a major manufacturer over the years .
I just haven’t used my .223 much since getting it and it’s crossed my mind a few times as to why I still have my .223

Well today I had a first in 30 plus years of reloading, a real oops.

I had 20 rounds each of 22 CM and 6mm CM to do. That combination sorta requires you keep your wits about you as they look very similar in every way.

I load both with 2209, one gets 41.5 and the other 43.0. See why I was being so careful I really fucked up!

Yup I loaded them both with 2208 instead of 2209. Got to the range and the first 6mm round blew a primer. My first thought was I'd set the scales wrong, so stupidly I tried a 22 CM. Same result. When I've dropped the powder into them I always visually check the powder level and I had spotted that it was a bit different at that stage but didn't do anything about it. So the holes in the swizz cheese lined up. Fortunately no damage done except to two cases and my pride. . . But it could have ended less well!
