I've been playing with cast, powder coat and gas checked in a no5 303
Only fired a few groups and it's settled down to consistent 25mm groups at 50m with the original factory open sights which are frankly bloody useless

@mickeyduck we all talk about how many firings we can get out of a piece of brass… how many firings do you reckon you can get out of the one projectile!?
80gr adi 2225, coal 3.645”, 2890 fps from a 26inch barrel. I’m sure there is more speed to be had from it but it’s got an SD of like 8 from 30 odd shots and grouping well so can’t complain.
Yep not much in this country is going to argue with that, hitting something will be the issue well before energy is
Greetings all,
In the last few days I have loaded a small batch of 6.5-06 cartridges. The projectiles are Nosler 129 grain LRAB with AR2213SC powder. Load data is a problem. Loads from the intrepid days of handloading are eye wateringly hot and some of the current data is quite weak. This is unsurprising with the cartridges long history as a wildcat, especially in Australia. For some reason much of the data produces well below book velocities in this rifle, possibly due to looser barrel dimensions from the 1990's. This was before the US rediscovered the 6.5mm calibre in the form of the Creedmoor. It was helpful to compare the data with that for the 6.5-284 which has a smidgen less capacity and the 6.5 Remington Magnum which has a smidgen more. Using the chronograph was essential.
Regards Grandpamac.
Some more 62gr Makers, and the last of some part boxes of 73gr Hammer Hunters and 75gr Gold Dots for the 223AI.
Rifle seems to shoot everything to just about the same POI @ 100m which is handy.

178eldx over superformance
Also decided to tinker with the old faithfully 708
I have 30 odd 150 eldx left in a box so I'll see if the 708 will shoot them as good as it shoots 140bts
2 different powders. 2209 and superformance
