    What powder for .308?

Varget? Reloder 15? 2208? 4064? will be playing around with 155-180gr pills. What do you reckon is the best? What are you guys using?

    I'm using 46.7gr of 2208/varget with a 150gr sst and fed 210m primers in my 1-12 twist 22" barrel.
Goes very well but quite slow compared to some loads published .

    2206H also seems popular

Yeah I have some 2206H but I think it's a bit fast for the pills I'll be using. Interesting regarding 2208/varget. I knew ADI supplied Hogdon with power. Is it exactly the same stuff?

Yes 2208 is Varget, H8208 (?) is ADI's BM8208 and there is at least one other powder. H414 is Win760. Basically Hodgdon make stuff all.

I use Varget. Yes it is 2208 but there can be small differences just the same as between batches of the same brand. Ran up some 165gn SST 308 pills with Varget today but maxed out instantly at 43gn running 2750fps. Book start load normally 42gn and max 46gn so as always work your way up.

Yep 2208 for 150-180 gr , its a bit slow for 130gr but is still ok if you can get enough in.
I run 47gr with mag primer lapua brass and 168 amax for 2750 out of a 22"

Grab some W748 too .... you'll be pleasently surprised especially with the 150-165gr weight projectiles.

    Depends on your barrel length.
    20 and under 2206H, over 2208

How full are the cases with this powder. Compressed loads?
