    What use recon

    Shot a deer the other day and found a projectile in skin, exit from my bullet or some else shot it ? Had to cut out couldn’t pull it out

    Obviously they were not using a .270 as I believe it they were then a near miss is as good as a direct hit.........................or so I have been lead to believe

    Guessing it's your bullet that tumbled and punched through backwards only to be caught up by the expanded tip.

    That's quite unusual. Have you got a picture of the rest of it with the skin etc cleaned off?

    Ha ha. By the time buzzman skinned it he would have sold and bought a few rifles and would have forgotten what caliber he shot it with

    This. Doesn’t seem to be common for modern hunting bullets to tumble, but wouldn’t be unheard of

    That copper looks pretty shiny, surely the metal would begin to oxidise being out in the weather / blood on it. Wound looks fresh with no infection (bit hard to tell with the hair in the way)

    As for tumbling, wouldn't hitting bone cause it to change trajectory / wound path
