    What's this??

Found this in a block recently hammered by goat cullers. Never seen anything like it and wondering what the white protrusion is in the 5.56 brass shell? Is it some form of blank or tracer cartridge? Or is there a projectile which goes in the end of the white plastic piece?

Yep, spent primer. The plastic part seems to be a tight press fit, cos won't move in or out ( by hand at least). Compared in size to my .222 cartridge and is significantly longer, so must be longer even than .223

No need to blow into it. Primer at one end and blockage at other. Projectile end would be about .22 diameter

Does the Army ever play up there? They look like Simunition rounds that have the plastic insert pulled out a bit. You shoot each other with them not goats, they're pretty useless at marking, not overly cheap either.

I know the police M4 markers use 9mm simunition so it won't be them but I don't know if the Military uses them. Possibly SAS or STG.

Someone had to know Yes. SAS Troopers play all around the Hunua Ranges as they're based in Papakura. Glad I found it... Learned something cool
