Haven't used one for a while but when I had one meat shooting I ran (not sure if you can get them anymore)
130 speer HP and 748 powder.
Was doing around 3050 on an old chrony out of a mod 7 rem.
Was never shooting any great distances but the load worked really well for me.

Still making them, they still work and are still cheap.

I'm using 2206h with 150s and cfe223 with 165s...prolly just use 165s when the 150s run out. 1 load near and far seems to have the same felt recoil

    Great info here...for me....308 WIN....168gr magtech....first defense sniper round.......a close second would be R93,s choice...[I] have those as well.....the 168gr for a longer shot

ADI 2208 or 2206 powder depends on how short your bbl is. 2206 faster burn rate suits shorter bbl.... in theory. Both work great.
Pills 150 gn cup & core (Speer, Hornady Interloks, Coreloks, Partitions best but expensive) for bush loads and 165 gn NBTs or SSTs for longer range

180grn round nose hornady for bush load.....R93s suggested speer 130 hps for lighter stuff...awesome on goats, they are called "hand granades" for a very good reason, its a projectile you can easily load down to gentle velocity aswell and it will still open up as they are very soft (as is most speer stuff) soft=good in humble .308
