    When to anneal

    I have a number of 3 - 4 x fired brass that I have only ever neck sized and they are all trimmed and prepped for reloading

    If I were to anneal them, would there be any merit in doing that now, or reload them, use them and then anneal before resizing?

    Cheers

    I anneal about every 5th firing of brass.

    My steps are
    Deprime with a hand tool,
    Anneal if required,
    Wax & size
    Clean
    Prime
    reload

    After 3-4 firings they would benefit from FL sizing & annealing

    Yep, but I'd say 3 or 4 rather than 5. But no big deal really.

    Greetings,
    I anneal after every 3rd load but target shooters often anneal every time which should tell us something. The light loads for my old soldiers are neck sized only and never seem to need FL sizing. Cases need to be segregated by rifle. Standard loads are FL sized using the competition shell holders to get the right bump. To me this is better than neck sizing for these loads. Cases are deprimed with a hand tool and the pockets cleaned prior to getting near the press.

    Just to clarify @chainsaw do you FL size after annealing or before?

    @imaca
    Always anneal before resizing and not after or you will have neck tension issues.
