Hi Guys
I am wondering if any one knows of a 25 cal 75gr projectile for shooting med game. Goats, Fallow deer and small pigs.
I have been using 75gr v-max but they do tend to blow up and do a bit too much damage. Neck shots leave a 4-6" hole and a lung shot minces the insides and doesn't exit. But I am worried a shoulder shot won't penetrate. Is there a 75gr bullet that is not a varmint round and will hold together a bit better.
Shot from my 303-25 3200fps.

.257 71gr FP. MV in my 25-20 is 1650fps.
I've head shot a magpie @ 50m and dropped goats with one shot out to 120m.
Damage to the magpie was confined to the head.
The projectile did penetrate the goat shoulders and appeared to expand nicely on exit without destroying too much meat.
Haven't shot a rabbit or hare with it yet but would expect to recover most of the meat from both.
Fells even the mightiest of forest trees too aye @marky123 ;)
Can't really fault it so far and the price is very economical.

Perhaps step up to the 87gr hornady or 90gr BT
Both would be good for your intended game
the 87gr , if it shoots well would be cheaper to run

Yes, once only on a young nanny at 100yds at 3600fps, devastating, but will be a barrel burner and will give up velocity fast because of poor BC, at 3200, you would limit shots to around 250yds and you would want major bone on the way through at that distance on a bigger animalQuote:
