    I like mine.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

Good choice in a Bush Gun and would take game at 200m with ease. Versitile Cartridge with the ability to have a play around with some Black Powder loads if you are interested.

Could be a candidate for "Best all round New Zealand Cartridge" if you take Scrub Bulls into account?

Might take you up on that. I'd like to get a feel for recoil and real life 200m practicality.

Nice, Jurrasic park style. How is it for accuracy.?
I also like the look of the Bergara.

@Jit the best factory ammo currently available in NZ is the Hornady 325gr Leverevolution. Reloads take the 45-70 to whole new level, My current loads are:

57grs AR2207 and Hornady 300gr projectiles these are doing 2110fps out of the 18.5 barrel.

Second load is 51grs AR2207 and Hornady 350gr FP for around 1950fps.

Both shooting around 1 inch groups at 50m with ghost ring sights.

Got a photo of your guide gun?

Also do you know how fast the factory ammo is going out of it?

Yeah I'll chuck one up when I get home, never chronographed Factory however from many sources online you can expect around 1700 fps for the 300gr Winchester/Federal etc and around 1800fps for the Hornady.

Recoil! The first time I fired it, unsuppressed, I cut my finger. You need to hang onto it, it’s not a soft recoil; like many of my other rifles.

There you go, it's since had the scope removed, just using the ghost ring sights now.

Factory loads are comparable to shotgun recoil, more of a push than anything. Hot reloads are nasty off the bench but the performance is definitely worth it.
